Hi dolls! Today I want to share my favorite sugar cookie recipe, these cookies are bright, sweet, and vanilla-ey.


Sugar cookie recipe: Yields: 30 to 60 cookies depending on the size of your cookie cutters.
16oz sugar
12 oz shortening
.4 oz salt (1/2 teaspoon)
.3 oz baking soda (heaping 1/4 teaspoon)
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
4 oz milk
.5 oz cream of tartar (1/2 teaspoon)
Zest of 1 lemon
25 oz cake or pastry flour

- Cream together shortening and sugar, add salt, baking soda, cream of tartar, and lemon zest.
- Once combined add eggs and vanilla extract, once combined add milk. Be sure to scrape the sides of the bowl in between mixes.
- Lastly add flour and mix thoroughly! Let the dough chill overnight.
- Roll the dough with a generous amount of flour, this is a very soft dough. Bake at 350°F for 8-10 minutes or until the edges and golden brown.
