Raising godly children

Hi Friends! I decided to do something different today, and interview our mom on raising godly children, biblical womanhood, and much more!

What does it mean to train up a child in the way they should go?

To raise a child according to the holy spirits leading. When I was raising my children the Holy Spirit told me “To reject the world’s system”. So I knew my children would never attend public school, they needed to be in an environment that would reinforce our spiritual values.

What is something you are grateful you did when raising your kids?

I am so glad I taught them the word of God, and that I instilled biblical values to lay a foundation for their growth. As a daycare owner/director I was around a lot of children for years, So I saw the importance of instilling values.

What is your biggest regret as a parent?

I regret punishing my children out of anger, When my children were growing up, I would get frustrated with them and discipline them out of anger.

How did you begin teaching your kids about God?

While my children were still in my womb, I dedicated each of them to God. I prayed over my kids every night, and spoke affirmations over them, and taught them prayers.

How can you set a christlike example for your kids?

The greatest way is by living it! I suggest building your relationship with God, Reading the Bible with your kids, doing devotionals, and showing them how to pray.

What are your thoughts on homeschooling vs traditional school?

I think that homeschooling is perfect for the right child, Because it can lay a strong biblical foundation, teach values, manners, and many other things. I believe that some children are called to public school and some to private school, I was very happy with the private school my daughter attended as they modeled Godly values and reinforced what she was learning at home.

What are your thoughts on feminism? is it biblical?

I am not into feminism, I’m into God and whatever his word says. I feel that women are free to be themselves and be entrepreneurs and whoever God has called them to be. I think that God has already established his order of Christ-Husband-Wife-Children. So we don’t have to create anything of our own.

Who is the Titus 2 woman in your life?

This woman from my old church, Ms Leotta. She admonished me to stick with the word of God, trust God, and live a life that is pleasing to him.

What is your life verse and why?

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths.” Because I’ve had to trust God my whole life, I had a difficult childhood and poor examples of leadership growing up.

How has your faith helped you navigate through difficult times?

My faith has been an anchor for my soul, and the word of God has given me the foundation to live a life that is pleasing to God, I’ve learned to overcome challenges through a strong prayer life, reading the Bible, and trusting that ultimately everything will work for my good (romans 8:28).

What has God been teaching you lately?

Lately God has been teaching me the power of affirmations, and being more aware of your words. They have the power to ensnare us or bless us. “A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.” Proverbs 15:4

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21

What’s one time when you knew God was working in your life?

I had a home daycare for 13 years. It was never my plan to have a daycare but God clearly told me it was my gift to nuture children, I eventually outgrew the home and thought that having a center would be less work. God blessed my obedience and opened the doors for me to have a center that was walking distance to my house!

What makes you feel most connected to God?

Prayer!

When are you most aware God’s presence?
