Hi! Hope here, I thought it would be nice to do a little monthly update on my week, what we’re eating, listening to, reading, and baking. So please grab a cup of coffee or tea, and let’s chat!
Watching
I don’t typically watch a lot of tv, but I love reality shows, so I’ve been watching Sister Wives and old episodes of Bringing up Bates on YouTube.
Listening
I’ve started listening to Christmas music, namely ‘My Gift’ by Carrie Underwood, and some of the Collingsworth family’s older albums, I love their album ‘Mercy & Love’ so I have had to force myself to branch out a bit. I have also enjoyed the album ‘Loving You’ by The Nelons.<3
Reading
I have been reading ’12 ways your phone is changing you’ by Tony Reinke and ‘Becoming Sister Wives’ by the Brown family, I do not believe in polygamy, I just find their family to be interesting (; I also finished ‘What’s the difference?’ and ‘Preparing for Marriage’ both by John Piper. I am really intrigued by Tony Reinke’s book, as I’m getting older I find myself less interested in technology/media, So I’m excited to read about some of the effects of handheld technology from his book!
Hobbies
I am still working on forming more hobbies outside of work, but I have been loving cooking more the past month, along with reading. Spending less time on social media and no time at all on TikTok has greatly improved how I feel and what I think about day to day. I just picked up a knitting needle for the second time ever this week, I’ve got the whole ‘cast on’ thing, now I just need to master the actual ‘knit’. My hope is that one day (soon) we never have to buy another scarf or mitten.
Celebrating
We had a great Thanksgiving last week and quite the story to go with it! My boyfriend and I were all ready to drive from upstate NY to his family house in Massachusetts with luggage, pies and my dog, Tiana when we discovered a leak in the engine. So we had the car towed, took 2 Ubers, visited the car dealership, then finally found a rental in Syracuse. Thank God we eventually got to his family’s house late that night. While in MA, I got to spend some time with our sister Sarah which was so nice<3

Cooking
This week I made Chili, Taco salad, Teriyaki grain bowls, and Michael is going to teach me how to braise lamb tomorrow. Ever week I underestimate how much we will eat, So my goal for this next week to cook 5 meals + snacks. I just made my staple healthy granola bars (https://raspberrysistersblog.com/2024/11/11/healthy-granola-bars/). This upcoming week I’m going to try out making greek yogurt and lemon marmalade!

Buying
Since feeling the nudge to resume my modesty journey (post coming soon!) I have been doing a full closet reboot! I’ve found a few cute skirts from Thread Up, 2 tops from banana republic, a soft baby blue cotton t-shirt from Express, and a new Snoga athletic skirt. since the temperature dropped here in upstate NY I have been living in my Snoga! I am ready for this winter weather to be over with!!!

I hope you all had a great week! Comment below what you’re cooking this next week and any book recommendations.
Love,
Hope
